We are a group of expert licensed mental health counselors providing therapy tailored to the needs of the person across from us. We offer individual and couples counseling, as well as referrals for medication management and other mental health services.
Our therapists are all experienced in helping clients navigate things like stress, depression, anxiety, and relationships, but we encourage you to visit each therapist’s page to decide which of us you might connect with best. While our strong clinical skills are our foundation, we come from an array of life experiences. Each of us offers counseling shaped by where we’ve been.

Using a blend of treatment modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and EMDR, Sylvia helps individual clients ages 16 and older address issues of anxiety, PTSD, depression, low self-esteem, stress, life transitions, and relationship difficulties.

Travis Kessell, MA, LPC, C-DBT

Travis offers a compassionate and conversational space for clients to explore their inner worlds. As a Certified Dialectical Behavior Therapist (C-DBT), he helps clients understand their emotions and build the skills to navigate them. He’s especially drawn to working with teens, college students, and young adults as they navigate identity, relationships, and life transitions.

Travis is available 11am to 8pm Mondays and Tuesdays, 10am to 6pm on Wednesdays, 10am to 8pm on Thursdays, and 9am to 3pm on Fridays for in-person or virtual appointments.

With fully private rooms and complimentary tea, coffee, or water, all in-person appointments are held in our office at 57 S. Main St., Suite 603, in downtown Harrisonburg, VA. We’re next to local shops and restaurants, and a gentle 20-minute walk from Wilson Hall on JMU’s campus.

If you prefer the comfort of home for your sessions, or your schedule makes it tough to come to the office, we offer virtual appointments through a simple, secure video platform. Remote appointments are available to anyone in Virginia.
